New Hydro Workshop
New small hydro development includes projects added to existing dams,
conduit exemptions (projects on pipelines) in irrigation and drinking water
systems, run-of-the river projects under 5 MW, and some kinetic hydro projects.
Representatives from working groups formed to address small hydro issues—Oregon
Small Hydro Working Group, NWHA Small Hydro Working Group, and the NHA Small
Hydro Council—will explore incentives, constraints, “green certification”,
renewable energy credits, and other related topics. This is an open forum for
anyone interested in pursuing new hydro development.

Compliance Roundtable: Public Safety Plans
Moderator: Diane Barr, PacifiCorp
Public safety plans are an integral part of licensing and compliance efforts.
But in today’s world of NERC, dam safety programs, recreation interests and
concerns about corporate liability, implementation can be challenging. In this
interactive forum, you’ll learn more about what’s important to FERC and how
other licensees set up their plans.

Dams and Sediment
Moderator: John Esler, Portland General Electric
In this session, you’ll examine the role that dams play in altering the
sediment migration in rivers, including cutting-edge efforts to measure and
mitigate the effects of those changes on channel shape and complexity as well on
macro invertebrate production and salmon spawning habitat.
