fall hydro camp

Held September 13-15, 2022
Hotel Murano Tacoma, Washington

NWHA continued the theme of Hydro Camp through our Fall Regional Workshop. NWHA officially rebranded our fall event as Fall Hydro Camp based on member input.  This last year's Fall Hydro Camp focused on a host of topics including dam safety, tribal relations, natural resources, watershed management, and river operation planning. Tacoma Power  graciously hosted the event in September.

The event featured a tour of Tacoma Power's Cushman Fish Facilities on September 13th and then a day and a half workshop on September 14th and 15th.

Attendees received 10 professional development hours, opportunities to network with colleagues in our industry through various networking opportunities, and the official 2022 Fall Hydro Camp T-Shirt.

Tour of Tacoma Power's Cushman Fish Facilities
NWHA headed to the Cushman Hydropower Project!
Located on the Skokomish River near the Hood Canal, attendees got a first-hand look at fish facilities designed to reintroduce and enhance salmon populations at the Tacoma Power Cushman project. Attendees got to see a floating surface collector and two new hatcheries in operation. These facilities are part of a mitigation and settlement agreement following a very lengthy and contentious FERC relicensing proceeding over a 30 year period.

The Venue- Hotel Murano
A beautiful waterfront city with spectacular mountain views, Hotel Murano sits at the center of Tacoma’s energetic and inspired downtown. A stay at our luxurious boutique hotel puts you within a few blocks of the world-class Museum of Glass, an incredible international center for contemporary art focused on the delicate medium of glass, as well as the breathtaking Chihuly Bridge of Glass, which connects the museum to downtown Tacoma with unique spectacle and style. Also within walking distance of the hotel are myriad cafes, restaurants, breweries and distilleries, cleverly showcasing the best and freshest of Washington’s local ingredients, and offering welcome relaxation and fortification after a day of learning at the Fall Regional Workshop.
