In 2015, the hydro-engineering industry lost a long-time colleague and friend, Julie A. Keil. Julie was a mentor to many in the industry and will long be remembered for her contributions to the industry. Her passionate efforts to balance the interests of the hydropower community with the innovative environmental protection and enhancement programs will have a positive impact on the industry for many years to come.

In the fall of 2015, the Northwest Hydro Electric Association began soliciting donations to fund a scholarship in Julie’s memory, with the support of Julie’s family and colleagues. The Julie A. Keil Women in Hydro Scholarship Fund will provide:
  • An education scholarship program for women enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school program majoring in a discipline relevant to entering the hydropower industry. The scholarship will be based on merit and financial need.
  • Grants to women who plan to enter the hydropower industry to assist in expenses to attend industry events.
Annual scholarships began in the fall of 2017.
You can honor Julie and help support the advancement of women in the hydropower industry by making a tax-deductible donation to the Julie A. Keil Women in Hydro Scholarship Fund. To donate with a debit or credit card click on the DONATE button.
You can also mail a donation to the Hydropower Foundation. Checks should be made payable to the Hydropower Foundation with the notation Julie Keil Fund in the memo line.
