The Northwest Hydropower Association is teaming with the National Hydropower Association to highlight Smart and Sustainable Hydropower projects in the state of Oregon. We are holding a Small Hydro Buyer's Workshop on August 22, 2019 in Bend, OR specifically designed for commercial, industrial, and municipal energy purchasers who are not familiar with hydroelectric projects, technologies, development steps, valuation, and current methods to purchase power from these projects.
Smart and Sustainable Hydropower refers to a class of hydropower that is low-impact and high-value not only to the purchaser, but also the electric grid, and the local communities where these projects exist helping to fulfill state renewable energy goals while meeting or exceeding stringent federal, state, and stakeholder requirements. There are a new breed of hydropower technologies, powerhouse designs, fish-passage technologies, as well as methods to sell the power, which makes these types of project both unique and beneficial to a wide-range of project participants.
We invite energy buyers in the region to attend the one-day workshop. An agenda can be found above. Energy buyers can span a wide range of companies to include large Fortune 500 companies, hospital chains, municipalities, paper/pulp, and other organizations with sustainability goals to purchase renewable energy as part of their energy portfolio.
