Professional Bio
Andrea Weiser has been a Sr. Archaeologist for Seattle City Light since 2016. The majority of her 32-year career as an archaeologist and paleoethnobotanist has been spent in Washington. She holds an M.A. in archaeology from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, a B.A. in writing from Fort Lewis College, CO, and has broad-ranging field experience collaborating with multiple Tribes and First Nations in her work throughout the northwest, inland northwest, southwest, and gulf coast of the United States, as well as British Columbia, Canada, and in Ecuador. She is committed to helping City Light and City of Seattle improve tribal engagement through a deeper awareness of tribal treaty rights, usual and accustomed areas, and cultural context. Her goal is to build solid communication and stewardship relationships with tribal representatives and tribal community members and incorporate tribal perspectives into City Light's management strategies.
