Professional Bio

Dr. Brian Turner is the Research Scientist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Aquatic Invasive Species Division. He studied ecology and theatre at UC Davis, developing a fascination of invasive species. Brian earned his PhD in Environmental Science at Portland State University, where he remained as a professor until joining WDFW. While currently up to his neck in European green crabs, he has also monitored mussels, corralled clams, neutralized nutria, sought snails, and identified insects. Brian is an avid science communicator and educator and is always happy to get a chance to talk with folks.
