Professional Bio

Heidi A. McMaster is a Natural Resources Specialist with the Bureau of Reclamation. She has 15 years of experience tackling invasive species, with a primary focus on invasive mussels. Based in Boise, Idaho, she develops and implements science-driven strategies that protect aquatic ecosystems, strengthen prevention and early detection programs, and support sustainable resource management across jurisdictions.
Heidi holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (Restoration Ecology) and a Master of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health, bringing a cross-disciplinary lens to complex resource challenges. She is also a Certified Environmental Manager, which informs her approach to risk assessment, compliance, and the integration of environmental health considerations into natural resources work.
Known for collaborative problem solving, Heidi works with internal teams and external partners to advance practical, measurable interventions—aligning field operations, policy, and stakeholder engagement to reduce ecological and economic impacts from invasive mussels.
