I'm a senior electrical engineer at ECI, focused on load and generation interconnections and NERC compliance primarily in WECC and SPP. With experience in transmission planning since 2012 at Avista, Grant, and now ECI, I work mainly on integrating large renewable projects and data center loads into the transmission system. I've been known to get on a soapbox when the discussion gets to either NERC standards or 'good utility practice' with studies. Regarding standards, having learned in the nuclear Navy that standards don't have to be onerous and considering them could save your life, I trend toward a pragmatic approach to getting compliance done. Regarding system studies, just because an approach is old and entrenched doesn't mean it's best.
