Professional Bio
Shoni’s previous roles include serving as the Deputy Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer in the Office of the Secretary at U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region Director of Communications and Community Engagement, Senior Legislative Advisor at the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C., and as the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at both the headquarters for U.S. Navy Medicine (a $7 billion global industry) in Falls Church, Virginia and Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland.
Prior to her civil service career, she served as an active-duty surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy. Shoni was named as the “Government Communicator of the Year” in 2015 by PR News industry magazine and has won numerous government and industry awards in her field, including five Chief’s Honor Awards from the U.S. Forest Service.
Shoni is a Senior Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP), holds a Master of Arts from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science from Boston University. She was selected into the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program with the U.S. Department of Interior.
Shoni is a fifth generation Oregonian and recently located to the Seattle metro area with her husband and children.
