Professional Bio

Josh Gile is a licensed Professional Engineer, who holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University. He is currently a Dam Safety Engineer working at Tacoma Public Utilities and an active coordinating member of NWHA’s Regional Dam Safety Working Group, where he helps advance best practices and collaboration in dam safety across the Northwest.
His career spans over a decade with roles at Puget Sound Energy, Avista Utilities, and Tacoma Public Utilities. His areas of focus are Hydraulics & Hydrology, as well as Dam Safety Surveillance & Monitoring. He has worked on probable maximum flood studies, inundation mapping for emergency action plans, LifeSIM consequence studies, probabilistic flood hazard analyses, and developed large-scale Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Plans under the FERC’s regulatory framework for high hazard dams across the Pacific Northwest.
